When I was in college, I spent some time working with black and white film. After seeing those deep blacks and bright whites reveal themselves in the processing/developing room, I fell in love with black and white. Black and white portraits have the power to stop you in your tracks and see the moment captured without any distracting colors. To me, it allows the moment of the photo to be more dramatic or hold more significance.

Black and White Portraits

I always include black and white images in my galleries to clients. I love my true-to-life-editing style with bright and beautiful colors. However, black and white portraits, in my opinion, have the power to make such a statement. They can see the special moments of their day raw and stripped of any distractions. It allows the moment and the people within the portrait to really shine.

That’s the feeling I want for my clients when they’re scrolling through their galleries and remembering their photoshoot.
