I absolutely loved hanging out with Katie, Jerry, and their pup, Hilda, for a morning engagement session at Valley Falls State Park! Katie warned me that they felt awkward in front of a camera, but their session was far from awkward! Their beautiful photos could easily be on the cover of the next Nicholas Sparks novel! I don’t know about you…but these stunning black and white photos are stealing the show!

Valley Falls State Park Engagement Session

The couple loves spending time together out in nature and going on hikes, so this gorgeous state park in Fairmont, West Virginia was the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos. The lush greenery and scenic bridges provided plenty of great photo-ops for us to choose from.

I loved Katie’s choice of outfit for her photos. She went with a soft yellow sundress and a bright yellow shirt and jeans which really popped against the greenery in the background.

Their dog Hilda was also such a wonderful addition to the photoshoot! She was really in her element in front of the camera and seemed like a natural.

The couple met through school at WVU. They were in the same major and had many classes together but never actually spoke! As it turned out, they didn’t end up speaking until their senior year. After a question about the homework for one of their classes, they finally got to talking! They studied together for many of the same classes they had that semester, even though Katie knew Jerry didn’t need to study. Jerry was practically a genius in the department, but that was his way of being able to hang out with Katie and get to know her. By the end of the semester, they finally made it known to each other that they liked each other, and here we are now!
