Jerry and Katie’s intimate backyard wedding in Clarksburg was a dream. Katie first inquired with me for a 2022 wedding date, but to ensure they had their close family members able to attend, they decided to change the year to 2021 but to have the same date. Katie said, “We’re very much number people and love the symmetry of the 10/01 date!”
Intimate Backyard Wedding in Clarksburg
The couple had their wedding ceremony and reception at the bride’s mother’s home in Clarksburg WV with an intimate guest list of 20 people. Sentimental details filled the eventing. From the homemade honey and jelly to the tables (hand-made by the couple themselves) that their family and close friends gathered around to share a meal together. In addition, Katie’s pearl necklace is sentimental. Her parents started it for her when she was born and added pearls for each birthday until she turned 18 when they gave it to her.
I love it when my grooms wear unique outfits, and Jerry’s was perfect for this fall affair! He chose a burgundy wool suit that tied into all of the touches of burgundy throughout. In addition, Katie was such a radiant bride in her bohemian-inspired gown. She chose Lisa by Dreamers and Lovers, and it was stunning on her! This lace gown featured long sleeves, a high neckline, and a dramatic low back.
Fall Wedding Details
The wedding was the most perfect way to welcome October! When it came to the color palette, Katie wanted it to be filled with fall colors and chose details that added texture and warmth. The flowers were shades of burgundy, orange, and cream, and there was lots of greenery. Her bouquet included burgundy dahlias, seeded eucalyptus, dried lavender, and orange mums. It was the perfect fall bouquet!
As guests arrived, a table filled with cozy blankets greeted them, so they could stay warm. Later, the ceremony took place along the side garden of Katie’s mother’s home, with a vintage rug as the aisle runner. The wooden arch, covered in ombre fabric with large floral arrangements that tied in the beautiful fall color palette, made the perfect ceremony centerpiece.
The Wedding Reception
After the ceremony, they chose an Al Fresco-style dinner reception, which was perfect for this intimate backyard wedding. Large farm tables were lined up and draped with a dusty burgundy fabric. Tapered candles added a soft glow, and handpicked flowers added color.
Weddings like these remind me why I love my job. I am always grateful to be welcomed into my couple’s homes and invited to share in their most special day. If you are planning a wedding, make sure to get in touch. I am excited to hear all about your big day and see how we can work together!
